Dietary
It is best to avoid sugars, fats, and refined foods. Basically, avoid junk food. Incorporate plenty of whole grains, raw fruits and vegetables, and cooked dried beans into your diet. Increase the amount of zinc in your diet by eating whole grain breads and cereals, fish, free range poultry, and a supplement of, zinc gluconate 30 to 80 mg daily. Aids in healing of tissue and helps to prevent scarring.

Herbal Remedies

The following herbs used in tea or tincture form have been used to treat acne:
dandelion root, burdock, nettles, cleavers, and echinacea.

A 50,000 IU
E 400 IU. Use emulsion for easier assimilation.
Strengthens the protective epithelial (skin) tissue.
Accutane As directed by a doctor. Strengthens epithelial (skin) tissue.
Caution: Has many side effects. Should be used only in more severe cases when other  treatments have failed. Do not use if pregnant. Can cause birth defects.
Chlorophyll
(liquid or tablet)
As directed on label. Aids in cleansing the blood, preventing infections.
Cod liver oil As directed on label. A good source of vitamins A and D, which are needed for healing of skin tissue.
Hydrochloric
acid ( HC ) with
digestive enzymes
Take with meals. Caution: Those with ulcers should not take digestive enzymes containing HCI.
Niacin 100 mg 3 times daily with meals. Improves blood flow to the surface of the skin.
Proteolytic
enzymes
2 tablets between meals. Free radical scavengers.
Retin-A
( contains retinoc acid and a vitamin A derivative)
By prescription only. Successfully used by dermatologists to treat acne.
Vitamin B
complex (high potency) with extra B6 and pantothenic acid
50 mg 3 times daily Important for healthy skin tone.
Vitamin C with bioflavonoids 3,000-5000 mg daily in divided doses. Promotes immune function.
